Dr. Rupendra R. Gaikwad, Associate Professor, IMERT, is a recognized faculty for conducting training programmes on Marketing in Banking system by the Pune District Urban Cooperative Banks’ Association (PDUCBA), Pune. Since last many years Dr. Gaikwad conducts training programs at PDUCBA for banking staff on the topic of Marketing.

The association has identified the need of marketing in cooperative banks. In today’s competitive economy, cooperative banking sector is really struggling for its survival. Private banks have very aggressive marketing strategies. Nationalized banks have their own business model. Foreign banks have identified their niche market. All of these banks are becoming successful on the basis of strong marketing strategies. In the era of competition created by these banks, if cooperative banks do not change their mindset and fail to adopt the marketing as their culture, their survival will become tough.

In order to make the staff members aware of this fact and importance of marketing, this training program was organized. It was organized for front desk employees who interact with the customers directly. The program was spread over two days to cover large population divided in two groups. In spite of weekend holidays, the response was very good. The audience was interactive; hence, the program was highly successful. The appreciation and feedback received from the attendees and organizers were encouraging.
