On 8th December 2016 IMERT organized a session for the first year MBA students a session on ”Careers in Capital Market” by Mr. Nitin Tike, Sr. Vice President, National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM). The Indian Stock Market offers many career opportunities when a person wants to make it as his / her profession, but the question comes up is that how to deal with stock market? or how to take your first step?
Mr. Nitin Tike provided guidance on available career opportunities in Capital Market and the necessary steps to be taken as well as skill sets required to be acquired. He stressed that the future jobs would mostly be in the services sector and those who wish to make careers in Capital Markets should acquire NISM certifications to get an edge over others.
As part of the programme there was also a session on “Stock Market Awareness” by Mr. Chandrashekhar Thakur, Ex. Head-Investor Education-CDSL. Mr. Thakur explained the stock market investing in simple to understand language. The concepts of dematerialization, trading of stocks, market capitalization, stock indices etc. were explained to create awareness of stock market through power point presentation and simple narrative.
