Report on National Librarian’s Day 2021
August 12th is being celebrated as National Librarian’s Day in India, in remembrance of National Professor of Library Science, Dr. S.R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), who had spearheaded library development in India. 12th August is celebrated as National Librarian’s Day in India. Dr. S. R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), born on 12th August 1892, came from moderate background in British- ruled India.
MM’S IMERT & MMCOE institute has celebrated National Librarian’s Day on 12/08/2021 from 11:00 am to 01:00 pm. Webinar was organized online by MM’S IMERT & MMCOE Library on the occasion of National Librarian’s Day.Programme started with Welcome speech given by Principal Dr. Sunil Deshpande sir. Sir elaborated the importance of National Librarian’s Day, 129th birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan.
Prof. Supriya Gadewar has delivered introduction speech of the guest speaker Dr. Amita Pradhan Madam (Chief Librarian- Sinhgad Technical Education Society).
Dr. Amita Pradhan Madam delivered webinar on “Dr. S.R. Ranganathan’s five laws of Library science redefined in present context.” She elaborated importance of five laws of Library science in present context. She has given information on how we can effectively utilize five laws of Library science for delivering excellent services in Library.
Participants have joined webinar from various professional institutes across Maharashtra state.
Question answer session took place followed by webinar. National Librarian’s day celebration ending up with vote of thanks by Prof. Amol Raut.
